My name is Michael C. Behrent and I teach modern French history and European intellectual history at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. I received my Ph.D. from New York University. I lived in France for many years (1977-1986, 1991-1996, and 2001-2003) and return frequently.

My university webpage, with information about my scholarship, can be accessed here. I have another blog, written in French about American politics, that I write for the magazine Alternatives Internationales. It is available here. I also write frequently for the online journal La Vie des idées.

I can be contacted at this email address: behrentmc@appstate.edu

I am very grateful to Renée Clayton for the creativity and effort she put into designing this site.
